Critical Acclaim for “Madame Butterfly”

The LA Opera’s production of Puccini’s “Madame Butterfly” opened on Saturday, March 12 and ran until Sunday, April 3.

The critics raved:

“James Conlon and the LA Opera Orchestra beautifully conveyed the shifting moods of the score as we sat, hypnotically transported to the Japan of Puccini’s imaginings.” (Jane Rosenberg, Seen and Heard International)

“James Conlon conducted with theatrical urgency, and the L.A. Opera orchestra, which obviously knows this score well, played magnificently.” (Mark Swed, LA Times)

“No surprise, conductor James Conlon and the LA Opera orchestra are magnificent.” (Karen Weinstein, Culture Vulture)

“The orchestra is magnificent under James Conlon.” (Georja Umano, LA Splash)
